New Jersey native Tniyah has officially arrived. Today marks the release of "Waiting On," her debut single through the newly formed Benin City Entertainment / Capitol Music partnership — a record that announces not just a new artist, but a new era for R&B.
Co-written with Aaron Lamont — the Grammy-nominated songwriter behind Chris Brown's scorching hit "Heat" featuring Gunna, as well as credits with Kehlani, Ty Dolla $ign, and more — "Waiting On" is a masterclass in restraint and seduction. Over a bed of warm, atmospheric production, Tniyah's voice does what the greats do: it makes you feel something before you even process the words.
"This song is about that moment when you know something is coming — someone, something — and you're not anxious about it, you're ready," Tniyah says. "It's about trusting the timing of your life."
The collaboration with Lamont was organic. Known for crafting records that balance commercial appeal with emotional depth, Lamont recognized in Tniyah the same qualities that have made his work with Chris Brown, Kehlani, and others resonate globally — an authenticity that can't be manufactured and a vocal tone that sits in a lane of its own.
"When I first heard Tniyah's voice, I knew immediately," Lamont recalls. "She has that thing — that quality where every note feels personal, like she's singing just to you. That's rare. You can't teach that."
For Benin City Entertainment, "Waiting On" represents a milestone. The partnership with Capitol Music — one of the most storied labels in music history, home to The Beatles, Nat King Cole, and Frank Sinatra — signals that the independent entertainment company has reached a new level. Founded on the principles of artist development, creative ownership, and long-term vision, Benin City has built a roster that spans R&B, Afrobeats, and hip-hop, with artists like Rebel Rae, Bella Alubo, Binta, Osa Zelé, and now Tniyah carrying the banner.
"This partnership with Capitol is about alignment," says Benin City's team. "They understand our vision for Tniyah and for the label. We're not here to make one song — we're here to build a career, and Capitol is the right partner for that."
Tniyah's trajectory has been quietly impressive. With over 1.2 million streams on Apple Music, features from Ibro's editorial team, placement on the platform's coveted "Mood" playlist (100K+ followers), and collaborations with Grammy-winning producers like The Breed, Mizzy Lott, Bizness Boi, and the legendary Teddy Riley, she's built a foundation that most emerging artists spend years chasing.
"Waiting On" is available now on all streaming platforms. It is the first of several releases planned for 2026 as Tniyah prepares a larger body of work that will fully introduce the world to her artistry.
